HYPNOTHERAPY TRAINING INTERNATIONAL

Idan works with HYPNOTHERAPY TRAINING INTERNATIONAL (HTI) on social media and running courses, among other things. He was so impressed by Dr. John Butler's approach to hypnotherapy that he ended up working with him! Here, he tells the story of how he came to try hypnotherapy, and how it helped him.

I came to Hypnotherapy Training International after thirteen years of struggling with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (also known as ME), fibromyalgia and IBS. In fact, I was housebound for two and a half years. During that time I tried nutrition, supplements, exercise, meditation, psychotherapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy and extensive water fasting, among many other things. Many of them helped to some extent, but I felt that I was at best treading water.

In 2014, my dentist and good friend Dr. Nigel Agger started talking to me about hypnotherapy and hypnotic trance. Unfortunately I was closed-minded on this subject: I am a psychology graduate, and in my training, we didn’t learn to value hypnosis. Further, doing a quick internet search revealed that the term “hypnotherapy” is often used rather vaguely, covering a wide range of different methods, and without a standard qualification for practitioners.

Over the years, Nigel kept pushing me to engage with Dr. John Butler, and to attend one of Dr. Butler’s courses at Hypnotherapy Training International, where Nigel had trained himself. Despite my appreciation for Nigel, I was on a budget and felt it wasn’t doable for me, particularly as my research did not suggest that hypnosis could help me.
In 2018, struggling with a relapse in my condition, I agreed to let Nigel hypnotise me; the results convinced me to sign up to the course “Hypnotherapy Skills for Life Change”. It was a month or so away, and after filling in the detailed application forms I started looking forward to it. I read about John and watched him online in a couple of interviews and realised how serious and well-informed he was.

September came and I did the course. The extent of John’s knowledge and skills is hard to do justice to. He is intense, thorough and passionate about teaching hypnotherapy. Over a period of study, I've come to have a deeper appreciation of the theory behind induction, deepeners and the use of trance for both emotional and bodily needs. But what happened to my physical ailments? My “brain fog” has dramatically reduced: my thinking is clearer and my short-term memory has improved. Finally, I have more energy, my IBS is under control, I’m less sensitive to cold, which used to affect me severely, and I fall asleep more easily and sleep better.

One of my main interests since my late teens is self-help and personal development. Alongside learning what hypnotherapy is, I realised that to succeed as a self-help ‘guru’, mentor or coach, a proper, in-depth training in hypnotherapy is of immense value to you. For hypnotherapy covers the full range of human intellectual and emotional functioning, particularly the level that is described as subconscious, as we are often not fully aware of it, and yet can become aware of it, especially in trance. The memories, beliefs and ideas which are active at this level can make or break your self-development and success in life, and the knowledgeable use of hypnosis can get these powerful elements of the mind to work for you and your clients.
For your own health and to unleash your potential, I highly recommend taking a course with HTI. Enjoy the journey and let me know where it took you!
